Nigeria Football Federation has revealed that the country will host 2020 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Africa.
Nigeria declared her readiness to host the Championship, but the world football governing body had since announced hosts for it’s various competition at a Congress back in October, while keeping mute on that of the U-20 women’s world cup.
FIFA inspection team led by Heyral Kaj Jurgen, visited Nigeria back in August to see the state of inspected across the West African nation in the proposed cities.
However Nigeria’s football governing body(NFF) is confident FIFA will award the hosting rights of the competition.
“We’ve received words from Fifa about areas we need to improve on to win the race to host in 2020,” a top official of NFF said.
“There’s a strong assurance that we are now favourites to host and we have a few months to make it happen.
Nigeria, U.S.A and Germany are the only Countries to have attend every U-20 women’s world cup since it was inaugurated.
Should Nigeria get the hosting right, it will be the first time an African Country is host FIFA Women’s world cup.
