Nigerian Football Behind Morocco – Rohr

Former Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr believes Morocco are far ahead of Nigeria currently.

Rohr says Nigeria will has a lot to do if they much catch up to Morocco.

Morocco reached the semi-final of the World Cup in Qatar, while Nigeria failed to qualify for the tournament.

Rohr who is the longest serving coach of Super Eagles, said the three-time African champions are now far behind the North African team in every areas.

“Poor infrastructure and poor education are the problems in such countries,” Rohr told Augsburger-Allgemeine.

“This shows in bad conditions, run-down pitches or neglected stadiums. I experienced this myself in Lagos with its 19 million inhabitants.

“The poor organization of their championship with constant interruptions was also a problem in Nigeria.

“Most clubs didn’t even have a youth section despite so many playing football. Everything went through private academies that wanted to make quick money by training talent,” He said.

Rohr, was sacked as Super Eagles gaffer in December 2021, despite leading the team to the final phase of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
