Nigeria started 2024 ICC T20 World Cup qualifying campaign with a win over Mozambique at the Gahanga Cricket Stadium, Kigali, Rwanda on Thursday.
The Yellow Greens edged the Mozambicans by eight wickets, following making 87 runs in 13.5 overs and dropping two wickets in the process.
Mozambique didn’t go down without a fight as they recorded 86 runs in 20 overs, but dropped eight wickets.
Nigeria won the toss of the match and elected to field first, thereby chasing the Mozambicans score in the second innings.
The Yellow Greens will tackle Sierra Leone on Friday (today) for their second game at the same venue.
In other group, Tanzania defeated Sierra Leone by nine wickets, recording 47 runs in 7.3 overs with one wicket, with Sierra Leone recording 57 runs in 11.3 overs and dropped 10 wickets.
