Lobi Stars star strike Sikiru Alimi believes his side took a valuable point off points Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League Group A match day four encounter in Rabat Morocco on Tuesday.
The Nigeria Champions had previously lost the reverse fixture 0-1 in Enugu which means that another loss at the home of the 2017 CAF Champions winners will leave them with a miracle to qualify from the Group.
Speaking after the game to brila.net’s Seyi Alao, Alimi who just a return to the team after missing the game against Asec Mimosas in Abidjan and the visit of Wydad Casablanca in Enugu believed the team did well, even as no one gave them a chance to pick something from the game.
“It was a good one, though we were on a mission for the maximum points and through collective efforts, we got a valuable point”
“We stock to the technical adviser’s game plans all through, which helped us alot”,
“It was obvious that no one expected us to come out with something against this Wydad side, But we believed in ourselves all through”.
The former Sunshine Stars goal poacher added that the Pride of Benue can still make It to the last eight of the money-spinning CAF Champions League.
“Of course, it’s possible we can go still go through because right now the group is still very much open” he added
Lobi Stars are fourth in Group A with four points from four-game played so far, same as Asec Mimosas who stays in third place due to a better head to head record ahead of the Nigerians, Wydad Casablanca and Mamelodi Sundown are first and second respectively.
