Mutiu Adepoju, Former Super Eagles player and member of the NFF Technical and development committee has stated that the success of the just concluded NPFL U15-promise will certainly make a lot easier the coaching and recruitment of players into the age grade national teams in Nigeria.
Adepoju in a chat with brila.net said continuity and proper monitoring of these youth team players at their various clubs will translate to early exposure and competitiveness from their early years which thus improves the quality of players making the age grade national teams.
He added that with the continuity of the U-15 league will reduce incidents of cases where coaches have a large pool of players thronging national camp for trials as this would have been effectively done at the club level.

“The aims and objectives is for clubs to start having structures for youth development and aside that looking at what has happened in the past few years, if clubs are having youth structures and they have U-15, there can be continuity and the national team can see where to draw players into the U-17. These players from this U-15 will be useful for the coaches for the U-17 instead of having one thousand, two thousand players coming to do screening and all that, They will just follow them and monitor them in their clubs.”
