NPFL : Wikki Tourists and Plateau United share the spoils in Bauchi

Wikki Tourists of Bauchi and Plateau United picked their first point of the 2020-2021 NPFL season after playing a goalless draw on Monday.

The sides went into the match on the back of their respective defeats to Nasarawa United and Kwara United in match day one.

In Monday’s game, the  first real chance fell to Plateau United after 37 minutes, Jesse Akila ‘s good effort was heading for the back of the net, but Wikki’s goalkeeper Nwabali did just enough to keep it out .


At the other end, Guda was presented with a golden chance to put Wikki in front from Udeagha’s corner kick, but he somehow failed to hit the target.

In the 74th minute, Plateau United’s Oche Salefu was denied by brilliant save from Nwabali, the goalkeeper palmed his ferocious efforts into safety.

Wikki almost grabbed the win in the 79th, Sale Ibrahim’s angled effort was heading for the top corner, however Plateau United goalkeeper Chinedu Anozie managed to tipped the ball against the woodwork.

The goalless draw means, Plateau United gaffer Abdul Maikaba’s winning streak against Wikki Tourists was brought to an end, Maikaba won the previous four meetings against the Bauchi side..
