Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2024 CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Nwabali will compete against nine other top goalkeepers, including South Africa’s captain Ronwen Williams and Cameroon’s André Onana, who currently plays for Manchester United.

Ronwen Williams edged out Nwabali for the Best Goalkeeper award at the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Côte d’Ivoire.

Their rivalry has extended to the South African Premier Soccer League, where both goalkeepers continue to excel for their respective clubs.

Nwabali played a crucial role in helping the Super Eagles reach the final of the 2023 AFCON, while Williams led South Africa’s Bafana Bafana to a bronze medal finish.

The 2024 CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco.
