Nwakali confident of more opportunities as season progresses

Super Eagles hopeful Kelechi Nwakali says he’s happy to help his club Huesca by playing the role the coach asked of him.

Nwakali is gradually finding his feet at the Catalan club after joining from Premier League club Arsenal last summer.

After playing a peripheral role in Huesca’s promotion back to the top flight division last season, Nwakali now appeared to play himself in the heart of the coach this season.

The former Golden Eaglets captain has been deployed mostly in the holding position by Coach Miguel Ángel Sánchez Muñoz, known as Míchel, Nwakali said he will play anywhere the coach wants him to play.

“As the season progresses, I believe I am going to play more, right now I also play as a Number 4, the coach is trying to see the roles for which he can always feature me,’ he explains.

“I can play as a number 10, 8, and 4 and I believe it’s a great advantage for me and I can always help the team.” He told the BBC.

Nwakali was in action for Huesca in their opening match of the 2020-2021 Premiere Liga campaign away to Villarreal on Saturday.
