Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede is excited with his side’s “great” start to the 2022-2023 NPFL.

Remo Stars are one of the four teams with 100% record in the league, after claiming a hard fought 1-0 win over hosts Gombe United in week two of the season.

Recall that the Sky Blues defeated El Kanemi Warriors 2-0 in their first game of the season.

Against Gombe United at the Pantami stadium on Thursday, they needed the hosts to miss a penalty and Andy Okpe’s 88th minute strike to seal the win.

“It (win in Gombe) means we will be at the top of the table and that is what we want to do, we came here with a plan to win the game. We won and it’s good for us,” Ogunmodede said.

The Sky Blues became the first team to beat Gombe United at home for the first time in the NPFL since 2019 – ending an unbeaten run of 24 consecutive home games (W18 D6).

Remo are second behind Bendel Insurance in Group A with six points from their opening two games, but the sides separated by goals difference.
