Olise becomes the 1st teenager to score a Premier League goal for Crystal Palace

Michael Olise scored on his first Premier League appearance for Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The 19-year-old joined the Eagles in £8m deal from Reading last summer and hasn’t featured since then.

However, he was given his first taste of action against Leicester City at the Selhurst Park on Sunday and he announced himself on the biggest stage of his career with a goal.

Olise replaced Jordan Ayew in the second half and rifled home his first goal for the Eagles eight minutes later.

Michael Olise became the 1st teenager to score a Premier League goal for Crystal Palace this century and the 4th overall (with Clinton Morrison, Bruce Dyer and Marcus Bent).

Speaking on the young midfielder, the Crystal Palace boss Vieira said: “We are all really excited by his talent, but at the same time we have to understand it will take time to be a Premier League player.

He is working well and hard at a good club to support him to develop himself. It’s about him keeping working, he’s doing well in training, he can score goals, but we have to support him to develop himself.

“It is a long season, so he will definitely play some games. He’s had a long injury and is not at his best yet, but he is improving and will be a really important player for us.” he said.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw, thanks to Jeffrey Schulup’s late leveler.
