Tope Olusesi has opened on the captaincy saga that led to his exit from Enugu Rangers.
Olusesi had led the Flying Antelopes for years, but the club announced last week that, the versatile full back would no longer captain the team.
Defender, Uche John was then appointed as the new captain by the technical crew and it was approved his selection by teammates.
Olusesi later announced his departure from the team and he’s on the verge of signing for Lobi Stars.
Speaking on the issue, the defender said, he was completely in the dark, and learnt about his removal on social media.
“I was relaxing when I got a call from a friend who asked if I was still with Rangers and I said yes. He then told me they just announced on Facebook the new club captain, and I said really? That I am just getting to know this now.
“My contract had already expired so I was asked to sign a new contract before leaving for the CHAN qualifiers which I declined, I told them I can’t sign now, I will think about it and know what to do when i return from the qualifiers,” He explained..
Olusesi joined the club in 2016 from Heartland and helped the club win the NPFL in 2016 and the Aiteo Cup in 2018.
