Nigeria’s U23 national team, the Dream Team VIII suffered a shocking embarrassing defeat to an amateur side VIA Football Academy in a warm-up game this afternoon.
The game is part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming CAF U23 CAF African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania.
The Dream Team VIII under the tutelage of Salisu Yusuf lost 3-0 at the Lekan Stadium, Ibadan, where the team is currently camping.
The result was shocking and unexpected as the team is made of top stars from the Nigeria Professional Football League.
According to the report, the Academy Boys completely dominated Nigeria’s U23 team and could have been worse had they converted most of their chances.
The defeat is a wake-up call for Salisu Yusuf and his boys, ahead of their clash with Tanzania.
Salisu Yusuf definitely won’t be happy with what he saw and could make a host of changes before naming his final squad for the two-legged game.
Thirty-two players are currently in camp and only will make the final squad for the trip to Dar es Salaam, the venue for the first leg.
