Onazi close to Denizlispor exit after six months

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi is on the verge of joining Serbian side Red Star Belgrade from Turkish side Denizlispor.

The player only joined his present club back in January, shortly after he recovered from an injury that kept him out of action for 11 months.

Onazi has struggled to hit top form since moving to Denizlispor and has only made six appearances for the club, no thanks to persistent injuries.

However respected Nigerian journalist Collin Udoh has now revealed that the player is in advance talk with Red Star Belgrade over a possible transfer.

“Nigeria midfielder Ogenyi Onazi on the verge of signing for Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade,” Udoh tweeted.

“Negotiations at advanced stage on a potential 3-year deal, sources tell me.” he posted on his Twitter account.

Should the deal go through, Red Star Belgrade will be the fourth club the Super Eagles star has signed for since moving to Europe.

After representing Nigeria professional football league side El kanemi warriors of Maiduguri, Onazi joined Italian side Lazio, before moving to Trabzonspor from where he joined his current team Denizlispor.
