Victor Osimhen says Galatasaray must now shift their focus to sealing the league title after lifting the Turkish Cup on Wednesday night.

Gala cruised to a dominant 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the final, with Osimhen netting a brace and Baris Yilmaz also finding the back of the net.

The win marked Galatasaray’s 19th Turkish Cup title and keeps alive their hopes of completing a domestic double.

Okan Buruk’s men need just a point against Kayserispor on Sunday to clinch their third consecutive Super Lig title and secure their 25th overall.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the match, Osimhen praised his teammates and the fans for their collective effort and energy throughout the competition.

“I want to offer a big congratulations to the whole team. We are very happy right now. We feel incredible emotions. We fought very well from start to finish tonight,” he said.

“We will fight for the fifth star on Sunday. We can say it is ninety per cent, but we have to say there is one last match left.”

Osimhen’s brace also saw him surpass Mario Jardel’s record of 34 goals in a single season, set during the 2000/01 campaign.

The Nigerian forward is now the highest-scoring foreign player in a single season for the club.

“I think the record is, of course, a great thing, but I would like to thank my teammates very much. Especially today, Yunus was very unifying.”

According to Opta, Osimhen is also the first foreign player to score a brace in a Turkish Cup final for Galatasaray.

Osimhen also hinted that a big decision looms once the season ends: “Finally, I have to make a very big decision. Everyone at the club, the fans, my family, have been really supportive throughout this process.”
