Onuachu nets again to continue impressive form for Genk

Paul Onuachu was on target again for KRC Genk in their 2-0 win over Cercle Brugge FC in Belgian Jupiler league on Sunday.

Onuachu starting his 27th league game of the season at the Litmus Arena marked the feat with a goal.

 

The lanky forward found the back of the net in the 9th minute of the encounter, his 26th goal of the season for the Yves Vanderhaeghe’s men.

 

Onuachu’s striker partner Junya Ito doubled Genk’s advantage in the 24th minute, following an assist from Bryan Heynen.

 

Onuachu was replaced in the 65th minute by his compatriot Cyriel Dessers, but the latter failed to find the back of the net.

 

There was not further goals in the second half as the Green and Black held on to their lead against the visitors, who themselves had Hannes Van der Brugge sent off for two bookable fouls.

 

Genk have now won their last three-game and last tasted defeat against Beerschot on February 21.

 

The result moved Genk to the third on the Jupiler league table with 49 points from 30 games.

 

Meanwhile Ike Ugbo was on parade for Cercle Brugge for 65 minutes.
