Onuachu nets goal number 24 for Genk against Oostende

Nigerian hit man, Paul Onuachu was on target for Genk in their 3-1 defeat away to Oostende, in the Belgian Jupiler on Wednesday.

Onuachu started the game up front alongside his compatriot Cyriel Dessers, who would later be replaced by Kristian Thorstvedt in the 64th minute.

 

The Forward opened scoring from the penalty spot for his side in the 10th minute of the encounter.

 

It was Onuachu’s 23rd goal in the league and 24th in all competitions for Genk in the current campaign.

 

Meanwhile the lead only lasted 12 minutes as the home side hit back in the 22nd minute, thanks to Makhtar Gueye’s penalty.

 

The visitors trailed for the first time in the game four minutes later as Gueye turned the game around, with his second from the spot in the 27th minute.

 

Arthur Theate scored the third for Oostende to seal the win and further put Genk’s champions league aspirations in jeopardy.

 

Following the defeat Genk remain in third position with 43 points, 17 points behind leaders Club Brugge with 60 points and 4 point adrift Royal Antwerp in second spot with 47 points.
