Onuachu’s Genk restart campaign with vital win over Anderlecht

Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu was in action as Genk returned to action with tough clash against Anderlecht in the Belgian Cup on Wednesday.

Onuachu, 28, lasted whole 90 minutes, in what as his 16th appearance of the season for the Wouter Vrancken’s side in all competition.

Genk start the match on positive note and was dangerous several times through Paul Onuachu. In the end, the best chance fell for Mike Trésor, but he missed from close range.

Paul Onuachu thought he had given his side the lead in the second half, only for officials to rule out the goal for offside.

Onuachu who has 13 goals this season however fired blank in the game, but Genk dug deep to secure a vital win with a goal from Ghananian forward Joseph Paintsil in the extra time.

It wasn’t a convincing performance, but the Wouter Vrancken’s troops would be more than happy to continue on that momentum.
