Onyedika describes Unexpected Rise as he Receives Best Young Player Award

Raphael Onyedika says last season’s achievement with FC Midtjylland was unexpected and his performance in it was surreal.

Onyedika, 21, was named the best Young Player in the Danish Supaliga for his strong performance with last season’s Cup winners.

The prize of YPOTY was awarded by an expert panel in the Divisional Association to a player born in 2001 or later.

“It means a lot to me to get this award,” the Young Midfielder said. ” It’s always nice with recognition, even if it’s the team’s performance that matters most to me.

“I am happy to have played so many matches and been a regular part of the team.

“The season has gone much better than I had dared to hope for. There must be a big thank you to the coaches and my teammates who have been good at helping me so that I have always been able to improve,” he added.

Raphael Onyedika played 31 Superliga matches for Midtjylland and the high point of his campaign was scoring a hat trick against FC Randers.
