Desire Oparanozie has ruled herself out of the coming African Women’s Championship billed for Morocco.
Oparanozie announced via her social media handle this Monday morning that she won’t be joining the her teammates for the tournament, due to border restrictions.
She tweeted:
Due to issues bothering on boarder restrictions, which is beyond my control. I am officially unavailable to serve. Which explains my replacement. I wish the team all the best in Morocco as I will be cheering from here.

Oparanozie, 28, currently playing for Chinese Women’s Super League club Wuhan Jianghan University. She signed for the team in May 2022.
The Striker has also been part of the Nigerian squads of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations of 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018, winning all four tournaments.
But she has also been in and out of the team, since falling out with the Nigeria Football Federation chiefs during the 2019 FIFA World Cup in France.
Her replacement in the squad was named on Sunday, striker Ana Imo was called up to fill the spot.
Just In: Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has been called up to replace Chinwendu Ihezuo and Anam Imo will replace Desire Oparanozie.
