Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will be sidelined for some days, his Club Napoli has confirmed.
The striker sustained an injury on his right calf and was ruled out of the derby against Salernitana on Sunday.
However further tests showed the injury isn’t serious, so Napoli hopes to have the striker back soon.
The Nigeria international was ruled out of today’s Serie A trip to Salernitana.
He sustained the calf issue during training yesterday and underwent the necessary tests today.
However statement from the club confirms Osimhen has been diagnosed with a gastrocnemius contracture in his right calf.
“Victor Osimhen this morning (Sunday), at the Pineta Grande Clinic, underwent instrumental tests that showed a contracture of the right gastrocnemius.”
“Osimhen has already started treatment and his condition will be evaluated in the coming days.”
The striker has begun a treatment program and will be re-assessed in the coming days.
He remains doubtful for Napoli’s Europa League game against Legia Warsaw on Thursday.
The 22-year-old center-forward is Napoli’s top scorer this season, with five times in nine Serie A appearances and four goals in just three Europa League fixtures.
