“Osimhen gives little, Napoli must sign another striker”, says Alessandro Altobelli

Former Inter Milan and Juventus star Alessandro Altobelli say Victor Osimhen can’t make Napoli the champions of Italy and has advised the Club to look beyond him.

Osimhen faced criticism following his debut season in Italy, as he failed to fire the club back to the champion league, despite commanding a €70 million transfer from Lille during the summer of 2019.

Although he contributed 10 goals in that season, but missed key games, due to injury problems and disciplinary issues.

This season, Osimhen recovered from a poor start to spearheaded Napoli’s great start to the campaign as they’ve established themselves as genuine title contenders.

Things, however, took a dramatic turn, when he sustained another serious injury, against the reigning champions Internazionale in November and he was sidelined for six weeks.

In his absence, Napoli slipped from the top of the table and are currently four points behind Inter Milan who still have a game in hand.

Speaking at ‘Il bello del calcio’, on Canale 8, Alessandro Altobelli claimed, Osimhen’s injury history since arriving at the club is not good and it is major problem for a team challenging for the title.

“If Napoli had a strong striker at their disposal – and they did, that is Osimhen – where was he at this time? For me, Osimhen is a great striker, but in two years he makes you 10 games.”

“He gave little to Napoli. I am of the opinion that Napoli must take on a great striker. If Napoli had Vlahovic they would be at the top of the table” He said.

Osimhen has scored nine goals in all competitions for the Napolitan this season.
