Osimhen is half way through his recovery process – Napoli Doctor

Napoli Doctor Luca Ruggiero says Victor Osimhen is not ready to return to action and will need few weeks to recover fully.

The talented striker, who has been out with a serious face injury, is working his way back into contention for Napoli and Nigeria, after suffering a serious facial injury in November.

Osimhen is currently training with a protective mask made Dr Ruggiero and his associate Bruno Carruba. The mask which is made of carbon and kevlar allows the 22-year-old to move safely in training.

Following his return to training, Napoli fans are waiting anxiously for his return to competitive action, but Dr. Ruggiero insists, the striker is only half way through his recovery process.

“It takes time for calcification and healing. From my experience, I will say the time is 90 days and we are half way there.” The Napolitan orthopedic told Tuttosport.

Dr. Ruggiero’s statement is coming a day after Victor Osimhen declared himself fit and ready to join Nigeria’s squad for the 2022 African Cup of Nations.

However, it remain unclear if Napoli will release him for the tournament, which is less than 2o days away.
