Osimhen not ready to return — Spalletti

Napoli Coach Luciano Spalletti says Victor Osimhen won’t featured against Cremonese this Sunday.

Spalletti stated that the game is coming too soon for the striker and he needs more time to be ready for competitive action.

Osimhen has been out of action since he picked a hamstring injury in the 4-1 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League last month.

Although the forward is back in training, he was excluded from the squad that played against Torino and Ajax.

Several reports in Italy had claimed Osimhen will be included in Napoli’s squad for the visit to Cremonese at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.

And responding to a likely return for Osimhen this weekend, Luciano Spalletti, revealed that the player needs at least one more round of rest.

“These are evaluations that are made after clinical examinations, after the analysis of the condition, we need to put all these components together,” Spalletti said

“We want him available in the conditions of being a football player, in the level that he is, and so we decided to give him one more round of rest, he is not in condition yet.”

“It is useless to take him on the bench tomorrow, better than today and tomorrow he trains hard.”

Victor Osimhen is likely to return for the UCL second-leg against Calvin Bassey’s Ajax on Wednesday.
