Victor Osimhen has revealed Coach Jose Peseiro worked much on the team’s mentality with repeated strong messages on the need to stay focused and remain united.
The forward stated this after netting four goals for Nigeria as the team recorded its biggest win in international football since 1959.
Nigeria humiliated Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 at the Stade d’ Agadir in Morocco on Monday, with Osimhen netting four of those goals.
The 23-year-old now has 15 goals in 22 matches for the Super Eagles and five goals in two games of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
He was also particularly happy for Coach Jose Peseiro, who has now won two out of two competitive games, after the slow start in the friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador.
“Kudos to the coach because out of all the instructions he gave, I believe we carried 80% to 90% of them,” Osimhen offered during the presser after the game.
“There is a big solidarity in the team and this has been what the coach has been telling us and as a group I believe we have the quality to continue to build on this momentum,” he said.
On personal note, Osimhen said he wants to continue helping the team to achieve its aim.
“Of course I want to keep on scoring goals for the team and each game we want to get the three points and win every match.
“That is our objective and we are looking forward to performing,” he concluded.
