Ouch! Hamburg Nicolai Muller ruptures Ligament in wild Goal Celebrations, Out for Seven Months

Hamburg winger Nicolai Muller ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament while celebrating his goal against Augsburg.

Nicolai Muller ‘s early strike got his side off to a winning start in the Bundesliga opener.

But it came at a cost as he suffered a serious knee injury during his wild celebrations, which could rule him out for seven months.

Muller squeezed home a finish at the near post before sprinting towards the corner flag.

But after spinning in the air, the winger fell over the corner flag and to the ground in agony.

He managed to play on for a further seven minutes before eventually being forced off.

And Hamburg sporting director Jens Todt confirmed the injury was a serious one.

Muller was then forced to come off and Hamburg have since revealed that he has ruptured the ACL in his right knee and will be out for approximately seven months.

“The diagnosis has come as a huge shock to us,” Hamburg sporting director Jens Todt said. “It’s a serious blow to our season and obviously absolutely gutting for Nicolai.

“We wish him all the best in his recovery and will support him as best we can throughout it.”

Hamburg also wished their player well on Twitter, saying: “We too would like to wish Nicolai Muller all the best in his recovery. Stay strong, Nicolai and #comebackstronger.”
