Rivers United will be without Bernard Ovoke this weekend when they face Club Africain in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup group A match at the Stade Olympique de Radès.

Ovoke was left out of the squad as they headed early hours on Friday from Port Harcourt, bound for Tunisia ahead of Sunday’s game.

The player did not pass a late fitness test but the club, who are the last of four NPFL‘s representatives on the continent this season, is charged up and want a win in Tunisia according to team captain, Festus Austin.

He said, ” We are not going there to draw. We want to win. It will be difficult but we want to top the group and to do that, we have to get a good result in Tunisia.”

” We want to become the first Nigerian club to win the CAF Confederation Cup title and we know we can do it,” Festus enthused.

The club will arrive Abuja from Port Harcourt before embarking to Kaduna from where they’ll connect a flight to Tunisia according to club sources.
