Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu played his first ever Premier League game on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Fresh from conquering Belgian Jupiler league, Onuachu made his Premier League bow for Southampton against Brentford.
However it wasn’t a debut to remember for the 28-year-old as the Saints lost the game 3-0.
With the Saints trailing 2-0 at half time, as Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo scored quickfire goals in three first-half minutes, Coach Nathan Jones brought on Onuachu and fellow new signings Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The duo made zero impact, forcing the visiting fans to question his tactics with regular angry chanting directed at their own coach.
Things went from bad to worse for Southampton as Mathias Jensen put gloss on the scoreline by heading in a late third from Rico Henry’s cross in the 79th minute.
Onuachu will be aiming for his first start when Southampton host resurgent Wolves at St Mary’s on February 11.
