Perez: I don’t know where De Gea will play next season

Perez: I don’t know where De Gea will play next season

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez plans on ‘keeping everyone’ after his club beat Juventus in the Champions League final on Saturday night.

Los Blancos overcame a tricky first half to run out 4-1 winners at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, becoming the first team to retain the famous trophy.

And Perez is hoping that the history-making group will stay together with Zinedine Zidane remaining coy on his future and the likes of James Rodriguez, Alvaro Morata and Pepe all being linked with summer exits.

‘We’re very happy, we’ve won, we played very well, I don’t know where to start,’ he told Atresmedia. ‘This is for the players, the coach and the fans.

‘Ballon d’Or? There’s no-one who deserves it more than Cristiano.

‘Zidane? He’s a person that all us madridistas have to thank. He elevated our level of talent in 2001 and put on a show. He’s done this in 17 months, and in 17 months you can’t do everything.

‘Zidane not confirming he will stay on? He said that to free himself of the pressure. He said that he hadn’t won anything, but now he’s won everything.

‘We’ll talk to Zizou, who’s the conductor of this orchestra, and there’ll be no problem with anything. If it was up to me, I’d keep everyone.

Madrid have naturally been linked with a host of Europe’s top players, but none more so than Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

‘Signings? If I told you all the names that have come out… we isolate ourselves from it because some [of the names] haven’t been said with good intentions. I insist, the players we have are the best.

‘De Gea? He’s a great goalkeeper who plays for United, I don’t know where he’ll play next season because I’m not a fortune teller.
