The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Jose Peseiro have agreed a contract extension as Super Eagles head Coach, the Federation has announced.

Peseiro’s previous $70, 000 monthly contract expired last month and both parties have been discussing the possibility of an extension with new terms.​

The 63 year-old Portuguese has now agreed to continue in the role after accepting a pay cut on his earlier terms, with the new agreement also putting him in charge of the Super Eagles B – the home-based professionals who contest the biennial African Nations Championship.

He was hired last year following the sacking of Gernot Rohr and disbandment of consortium of local coaches.

The former Venezuela boss has been tasked to lead the Super Eagles to the semi-finals of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Cote d’Ivoire.

Jose Peseiro has steered the Super Eagles through the qualifiers of the Cup of Nations and with a match to spare.
