Peseiro Super Eagles debut ruined

Jose Peseiro’s reign as Super Eagles boss started with a 2-1 defeat to Mexico in an international friendly game at the AT & T Stadium, early hours of Sunday.

Peseiro fielded a strong line up for the game, but his team couldn’t match the firepower of the World Cup bound Mexicans.

Mexico started on a front foot and played around as the Super Eagles struggled to their rhythm.

The Mexicans eventually grabbed the opening goal after 12 minutes of play, when Santiago Gimenez’ header bounced off Uzoho and rolled into the net.

Dessers, who is making his first start for Nigeria, then levelled the game in the 54th minute with a bullet header. It was his first goal for Nigeria in two matches.

The equalizer lasted for just two minutes as William Troost-Ekong diverted a cross into his own net.

Terem Moffi later missed a golden chance to equalize for the Eagles when he blasted a shot off target from inside the box.

The Mexicans held on to their lead and extended their good run over Nigeria with 2 wins and 3 draws.
