Plateau United records first win of the season against sorry Heartland

Plateau United recorded their first win of the season following an emphatic  a 3-0 win thrashing of Heartland at the New Jos Stadium.

Plateau United’s previous two league matches against Kwara United and Wikki Tourists only yielded a point, but Abdul Maikaba’s side put the poor run of form behind them and smashed three past Heartland.

Muhammadu Zilkifilu scored Plateau United’s first goal of the of the season in the 18th minute of the encounter.

Zilkifilu nearly doubled the lead five minutes before the half time, his long range effort was saved by Heartland goalkeeper Chijioke Ejiogu.

Plateau United were later awarded a penalty in the 53rd minute, when Francis Benjamin was penalized for obstructing Amos Gyang in the box and he took the kick himself, putting it past the goalie.

The league holders wrapped up the points in the 60th minute as Jesse Akila squeezed an effort from a tight angle to give the hosts a commanding lead.

Heartland FC are still without a win in three league games this season and have conceded 8 goals after three games this season, it took them 9 games to allow same number of goals last season.
