Ararat Armenia and Nigerian striker Yusuf Otubanjo has stated that the invitation of players for national team engagements should be based on the quality of players above the rating of leagues.
The 2019/2020 Armenian league winner speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the reverse however is the case with Nigeria where the emphasis seems to be placed many times on where players ply their trade.
He added that the quality of any good player will always show through irrespective of where they play and that should be considered ahead of other factors for national team invitation.
“Every league is always a good league no matter where the country is so when you’re good there is nowhere you cannot play believe me. It’s just so simple, playing in the Premier League doesn’t determine the goodness of everybody because you know being good will always show wherever you are either low league or big league your quality as a player will always determine your chances in this football and in the future. When you’re good there is nowhere you cannot play.”
