Players’ Union backs Nwakali, drags Huesca to Court

The Spanish Footballers Union, AFE have confirmed they’ll challenge Kelechi Nwakali’s dismal by SD Huesca in court.

Nwakali was sacked by the Segunda B side on Tuesday, despite having three months left on his contract.

The player in a statement revealed the Club decided to axe him after ignoring a call not to represent Nigeria at the last African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

In their response to the player’s statement, Huesca denied the allegations and claimed Nwakali’s revelations lacks truth and accuracy.

However in a new twist AFE, the body responsible for the protection of  the rights of  Spanish based players, stated they have studied Nwakali’s situation and are convinced the player was wrongfully dismissed.

The body also confirmed they’ll be challenging the decision in the court of law.

The Statement reads:

Given the numerous information that is appearing, some erroneous, AFE wants to clarify that the dismissal will be challenged – as it cannot be otherwise – before the courts of the city of Huesca with the aim of continuing to safeguard the labor rights of the soccer player.

AFE understands that, with this unilateral resolution adopted by the club, the labor rights of Kelechi Nwakali have been clearly violated.

Meanwhile, the 23 year-old midfielder is now registered as a free agent and is allowed to speak with interested clubs sides for his services.
