President of the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers Tijani Babangida has stated that the Players union will stop at nothing to take on clubs that run foul of their contractual obligations to players ahead of the 2020/2021 football league season.
The former Nigeria international speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the Players union will pursue very hard the interest of players as regards to clubs fulfilling their side of the bargain to players.
He stressed that no longer will they allow the practice of clubs sacking players without activating and fulfilling relevant part of players’ contracts that will see such compensated.
“Most of the problems we’re having sometimes are the players who go directly contacting the LMC instead of them to contact the Players union so that the union can go directly to the LMC and sometimes, you find out that when they even go to the LMC, LMC is going to refer them back to us and then we can be able to push it. And about the club chairmen, we are trying to work with them because if they do the right thing, we are going to have a good understanding and friendship with them but the moment they don’t do the right thing sacking players under contract before their contract expires, then we will have issues and then report them to the NFF and LMC.”
