Predicted line-ups: Liverpool vs Bayern Münich – Who is winning tonight?

With the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 clash between Liverpool and Bayern München just around the corner, we take a look at how the two teams are likely to line up at Anfield tonight.
Bayern will definitely have to manage without Jerome Boateng (illness), Thomas Müller (suspension), Arjen Robben (thigh injury) and Corentin Tolisso (knee injury).

Meanwhile, Kingsley Coman and Leon Goretzka are expected to be ready for the game after seemingly overcoming minor ankle problems. Franck Ribery is also available as the winger has arrived in Liverpool following the birth of his daughter.

It seems likely that Bayern coach Niko Kovac will choose the same starting eleven as he picked for Friday’s 3-2 win over FC Augsburg:

Neuer – Kimmich, Süle, Hummels, Alaba – Goretzka, Thiago – Gnabry, James Rodriguez, Coman – Lewandowski.

If Kovac wants more defensive stability, he could let Javi Martinez start at the expense of either Leon Goretzka, Thiago Alcantara or James Rodriguez.

As for Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk will definitely miss the game due to suspension. Joe Gomez (ankle injury) and Dejan Lovren, who is unlikely to play due to a hamstring injury, add to the Premier League side’s defensive injury worries.

Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is working on his recovery from a long-term knee injury while Roberto Firmino (illness) and Xherdan Shaqiri (abdominal pain) are both expected to be fit.

This is how Liverpool’s starting eleven could look:

Alisson – Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson – Wijnaldum, Henderson, Keita (Milner) – Salah, Firmino, Mané.
