Quadri beats Taiwo to set up final meeting with arch rival Assar

Quadri Aruna will face rival Omar Assar in the final of the ongoing ITTF African Championship in Algeria.

The two African heavyweights will battle for the top prize in the men’s singles at the African Championship for the 3rd consecutive year.

Quadri who is the highest ranked player at the tournament defeated reigning West African champion and Africa U-19 champion Mati Taiwo in the semi-final.

He saw off a stiff challenge from his compatriot, who had stunned Ahmed Saleh of Egypt to make his maiden semi final appearance at the African Championship.

Quadri last won the tournament in 2018, and his last two final appearances ended in defeat to Assar.
