Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has hailed the performance of Joe Aribo in the 2-0 win against Coventry City in Saturday’s friendly at Ibrox Park.
Aribo maintained his fine form in pre-season after scoring a sublime goal in the 50th minute of the match to give Rangers the lead.
The Super Eagles midfielder played a superb one-two with Alfredo Morelos before gliding into the area, but before any of the three Coventry players around him could get a tackle in, he’d slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Aribo also scored in Rangers’ win 4-0 over Motherwell on Wednesday.
Connor Godson scored the Gers’ second goal with a header in the 67th minute as Steven Gerrard’s men ended their preseason games with 100% record.
“Wherever we play Joe he always tries to make things happen,” Gerrard was quoted by RTE Sport.
“He’s come back in a fantastic place. He’s come back fitter, he’s come back focused and all I ask is that he takes his pre-season performances into the season because if he does, he’s going to be a major help for us.”
Aribo joined Rangers from Charlton Athletic last summer and notched nine goals and eight assists from 48 appearances across all competitions in the 2019-20 campaign.
The Nigeria international will look to help the Ibrox Stadium outfit wrestle the league title from Celtic next season.
