Cristiano Ronaldo fell short of the Mohamed Salah challenge on UEFA Champions League night, Wednesday, when Real Madrid against Bayern Munich took another step closer to defending the UCL title.
Real Madrid defeated the Bavarians 2-1 in Munich, in the first-leg semi-final clash, but it wasn’t the Portuguese star Zinedine Zidane will have to thank for the win.
Goals from Marcelo and Marco Asensio; cancelled out Joshua Kimmich’s opener for Bayern, and handed Los Blancos a massive advantage heading into the second leg.
But the main focus on the night had been the idea of seeing Ronaldo respond to the Liverpool star, Mo Salah’s brace on Tuesday.
Salah inspired the Reds to a 5-2 win at Anfield and his Ballon d’Or or The Best ratings shot straight to the roof.
In like fashion, it was expected Ronaldo will turn up on game night against Bayern to match or even surpass Salah’s performance.
Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t score in a Champions League match for the first time since June last year:

However, the 33-year-old managed only two attempts on goal the entire night and only made 19 passes.
Nonetheless, Ronaldo still leads the goal scorer’s chart with 15 to his credit; 5 more than Salah and his Liverpool teammate, Roberto Firmino.
