Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) have held Niger Tornadoes FC to a goalless draw in one of Group A Nigeria Professional Football (NPFL) fixtures at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna, Niger State on Wednesday.

The Ikon Allah Boys failed to mount sustained pressure during the contest and Kennedy Boboye’s side was fully deserving of their first point against Niger Tornadoes in the NPFL.

Both sides stayed actively in the game from the blast of the whistle till the very end of proceedings, the first sight on the goal came from the host after Azado Isah took a close-range shot but it went narrowly wide.

The Sky Blue Stars continued to spray the ball around with full confidence as Adebogun Omotayo and Mustapha Gbolahan combined well to set up Mbaoma Victor but Gwaza Loriam brilliantly denied his attempt going forward.

Olufemi Oladapo was provided a chance to get a goal for us, Adebogun Omotayo located Mbaoma Victor with a scintillating pass, he set up Oladapo and anxiously ballooned the ball into the air.

James Iko took a wonderful free-kick at the edge of the visitors’ box towards Simon Elijah, he tried his acrobatic move to get an attempt on goal but Fabiyi Emmanuel denied with a good save.

The host came close again towards the end of the first half after Remo Stars Goalkeeper, Fabiyi Emmanuel rushed out to punch out a ball inside his box, he went wrong and Simon Elijah’s effort curled out of play.

Niger Tornadoes returned from half time break up the other end and a chance was created for Azado Isah, with the forward sending a shot to hit the crossbar after meeting a cross from Eric Frimpong.

The Kennedy Boboye-led side was dealt with an injury blow, although the introduction of Michael Bolaji threatened to spark the Sky Blue Stars into life.

Eric Frimpong was provided with an opportunity in the last twenty minutes of the game but the striker could only fire a tame effort straight at Fabiyi Emmanuel who was waiting at his near post.

The Ikon Allah Boys continued to push for a goal, but aside from a close-range effort from Eric Frimpong which went narrowly wide, Remo Stars were not troubled at the back and the visitors were left to celebrate what could turn out to be an important point in the course of the season.
