Report: Bafana Bafana Stranded in Port Harcourt

• Bafana Bafana spent the night in Port Harcourt after a flight delay to Uyo

• The Team will train for the first time in Uyo on Thursday evening

• Nigeria and South Africa will face-off on Friday in the 2026 FIFA WCQ

South Africa MNT, Bafana Bafana, was left stranded in Port Harcourt following a flight delay that caused their late arrival, preventing them from arriving in Uyo on Wednesday.

Bafana Bafana landed in Nigeria on Wednesday, but after passing through immigration at the Port Harcourt Airport, their chartered flight could not take off to Uyo as the airport had closed, forcing the 1996 AFCON champions to spend the night in Port Harcourt.

The tea’s Media Officer Romy Titus confirmed their itinerary afterwards: “The team is still not at base in Uyo, mostly due to the massive flight delay this morning.

Bafana Bafana have been on the road for 18 hours and still not at base in Nigeria. The team is currently at Port Harcourt Airport where they cleared customs, awaiting transfer to the hotel, to spend the night. “Immigration took place at Port Harcourt Airport, and by the time we were to take off the Airport in Uyo had closed. We will need to spend the night in Port Harcourt but still currently awaiting transfer.”

Hugo Broos’ side are now expected to make the trip to Uyo this morning (Thursday).

In preparation for Friday’s game, Bafana Bafana will train at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo at 8 p.m. on Thursday night.

South Africa is second in Group C with three points from two games, while Nigeria are third with two points.
