Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina is reportedly close to signing a new contract with Nottingham Forest that could keep him at the club beyond next season.

Aina, who arrived at the City Ground on a free transfer, has become a key figure for Forest this season.

His consistency, defensive solidity, and attacking contributions have made him one of the club’s top performers under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 28-year-old’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June, and though he’s attracted interest from clubs both in England and abroad, reports suggest he is likely to stay in Nottingham.

According to The Telegraph, Aina is expected to sign a new deal soon, with a fresh long-term contract already in discussion.

Sources also confirm that Aina had earlier triggered an automatic one-year extension clause in his deal, meaning he is already tied to the club for the 2025/26 season.

Talks are now focused on securing a longer-term commitment that reflects his importance to the team.

This season, the former Chelsea full-back has made a notable impact, scoring two goals and registering one assist in the league.

When fully fit, Aina has featured consistently in Forest’s starting eleven, proving his value on both flanks and helping stabilise the defence of the two-time European champions.

With two games left in the season, Nottingham Forest sit seventh in the Premier League standings.

Though securing a UEFA Champions League spot remains a tall order, it’s still mathematically possible, and Aina will be eager to finish strong and help push the club into European competition for the first time in decades.

His new deal would be a major boost for Forest, who are keen to build a squad capable of consistently competing at the top level.
