Aston Villa chairman Dr Tony Xia has pulled off the club’s first signing of the summer and it’s a real shocker.
Xia took to Twitter to post a photo of himself alongside none other than the legendary Roberto Carlos as they held up the famous claret and blue shirt.
The pair are pictured laughing as they pose with the kit – imitating the classic ‘new signing’ photograph.
The Villains chairman joked on Twitter: ‘Roberto told his story just missed to come to Aston Villa in 1997/98. Now this is the first signing of the summer!’

The story Xia is referring was when Carlos admitted he nearly joined the Midlands club back in 1995 when leaving Brazilian side Palmeiras – via the Birmingham Mail.
Carlos went on to sign for Inter Milan instead before subsequent moves to Real Madrid, Fenerbahce, Corinthians, Anzhi Makhachkala and Dehli Dynamos.
