Rohr: Algeria tie is a good test for the new players

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has disclosed that he’s looking forward to how new players will perform against Algeria and Tunisia.

Rohr will be without Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo, and Jose Aribo for games but the Franco-German tactician could hand Frank Onyeka and Samson Tijani opportunities to impress in their absence.

The Super Eagles lost to Algeria in their last meeting back in 2019, Rohr however insisted, he’s desperate to see how the new boys perform during the game, rather than seeking revenge.

“I want to see our new players, I want to see good football. The two games will be interesting and its a good test for us.”

“It is neither a friendly nor a revenge game. It is a preparation, test game where we try out new players and we have a new midfield.

“We’re missing three of our best midfielders and we have to see how the new boys blend in & still play beautiful football.” He told the news conference.

Super Eagles and Algeria will come to meet on Friday at the Worthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt in Austria with Nigeria hoping to end the Desert Foxes 18 matches unbeaten run.
