Rohr contract extension is good news for Nigeria Football – Ogu

Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu says he is delighted to see Gernot Rohr remain in charge of the Super Eagles for another two years.

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick announced that the Franco-German tactician officially extends his contract with the Federation on Wednesday.

The new deal could keep Rohr at the helms of the affair until after the 2022 world cup campaign and should everything goes as planned, Rohr could become the longest-serving Super Eagles coach ever.

While reacting to the news on his social media handle, Ogu described the news as a welcome development for the country.

“Woke up to the news from @thenff that Mr. Gernot Rohr remains our National team coach. Great news for our country Football. Our Football will never fall moving forward 🙏🏻🙏🏻 ” he said.

Rohr was hired in 2016 as a replacement for Sunday Oliseh who parted company with the Federation after irreconcilable differences.

The former Bordeaux coach has enjoyed some decent run of results since he took over 46 months ago.

Super Eagles have played 41 games under his watch, winning 22, drawing 9 and went on to suffer 10 defeats.
