Super Eagles managed Gernot Rohr has explained why Odion Ighalo didn’t taste action against Liberia on Saturday.
Ighalo who rejoined the Super Eagles after three years, was on the bench for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia in Morroco on Saturday.
The Al-Shabab striker watched as goals from Victor Osimhen and Ahmed Musa secured the three points for the Super Eagles.
Asked why Ighalo was considered for action, Rohr said, he could feed him, because he arrived the camp late.
“We are happy to have him back, he only arrived on Thursday that’s why he couldn’t participate in this match. I hope that in the next match on Tuesday, he will be able to help us much more.”
On the failure of the players to score from open play, Rohr said:
”When you score two goals, it’s not a disappointment. Because when you see the penalties, there was one-to-one situation. If therewas no foul, perhaps, we would have scored from normal play likeyou said.
Super Eagles will be hoping to seal their qualification when they host Cape Verde on Tuesday.
