Rohr reacts to reports linking him to vacant Ghana coaching job

Former Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr, revealed he has not received an offer to become the new head coach of Black Stars of Ghana.

The Ghanaian FA are in the market for another manager after sacking Milovan Rajevac, following the abysmal performance of the Black Stars at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Black Stars failed to advance to the round of 16 from the Group phase. The team lost picked just a point three games and lost to Morroco and debutants Comoros.

Next for the Ghanaians is FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff match against Nigeria and Rohr was reported as one of the possible candidates to lead the team.

Ghanaian media outlets claimed, the former Super Eagles boss who was sacked in December by the Nigeria Football Federation is now one of leading candidates for the vacant coaching.

The former Gabon coach however, refuted the reports, and insisted that, it will be difficult to coach another team against the Super Eagles.

“I don’t have any agent and nobody is intensifying my candidature to coach Ghana,”

“Of course, some countries contacted me and not me contacting them, but It would be difficult for me to fight against my former team,” Rohr told Nationsport.

Rohr spent five years and seven month managing the Super Eagles. He qualified the team for 2018 FIFA World Cup, 2019 and 2021 African Cup of Nations, before he was fired in December.
