Gernot Rohr says late injuries to both goalkeeper Francis Uzoho and striker Peter Olayinka forced him to change Super Eagles starting XI for a friendly against Cameroon.
Rohr hinted that he decided to feed Maduka Okoye in goal, for the second friendly with Cameroon last night after second choice Francis Uzoho pulled out of the game due to injury.
The Franco-German tactician also added Slavia Prague striker was also replaced after the injury complaint on Monday.
“He was injured, he came this morning with a painful leg and he told me coach, I cannot make it.”
“Like Olayinka, we wanted to start with him, so yesterday we tried with him, but he got injured in training but it’s not a big injury. but we don’t take any risks I don’t want to let players return with injuries to their homes, go on holiday or return to their clubs. ” He said after the game.
The second test game between Super Eagles and Indomitable Lions however ended in a goalless draw.
