Rohr won’t back down

The last hasn’t been heard of Franco-German coach Gernot Rohr despite claims by the Nigeria Football Federation that the Football governing body in Nigeria have decided to relieve him of his duties.

The former Super Eagles gaffer has been under immense pressure until the plug was pulled on him on Sunday evening after a virtual meeting by the executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.

The decision taken at the meeting means Gernot Rohr will not lead the squad to AFCON in Cameroon and the German tactician has revealed that his lawyers are working already on the whole situation.

“My lawyers are working on it now, my contract is going until the end of next year.”

In his place, the football federation appointed Augustine Eguavoen, currently the Technical Director, as the interim coach.

Eguaveon, a former head coach of the Super Eagles will now take charge of the team as it begins preparations for the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, 2022.
