Former Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia has opined that Nigeria will be drawn against good but less organized teams and not tournament favourites in Russia.
Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has stated that he believes the Eagles are good enough to trouble many teams at the world cup but not favourites.
The Bayelsa-born tactician, however, hopes that Nigeria doesn’t get drawn with countries like Germany or Brazil and Spain at the world cup to brighten Nigeria’s world cup group stage progress.
Siasia speaking to brila.net on the chances of the Eagles at the world cup said “Germany remains a clear favourite” and it will be tough for Nigeria if the Eagles get drawn with two of these three teams mentioned.
“No team at the World Cup will be pushover or bad team”, I believe the Super Eagles team have what it takes to cause trouble for a lot of better teams but I don’t want to see them drawn alongside some top organized teams,” Siasia said.
Looking at the Germany side, Siasia said, “Their Team B, comprising of young players took the Confederations Cup by storm” with no or little international experience, they won”.
They are the most organized team in the world presently and it will be difficult to have them in our group.
Siasia led the Flying Eagles to a Silver medal at the 2005 World Youth championship in the Netherlands. He also led the U-23 dream team to Bronze-medal in the Rio Olympic in Brazil.
