Sadiq Umar is ripe for the Super Eagles – Babagida

Former Super Eagles winger Tijani Babangida is backing Sadiq Umar to become a great player for the National team.

Sadiq Umar enjoyed a very good debut season in Spain, and scoring 20 goals for UD Almeria in the Smartbank Segunda B last season.

The lanky forward is yet to make his debut for Super Eagles, not thanks to club involvement, but Coach Gernot has continued to speak highly of his talents.

With the former AS Roma and Glasgow Rangers striker now goals for fun, Tijani Babagida believe he is ripe enough for the National team.

“Umar Sadiq has come of age,” said Babangida. “He’s been doing well in his club even though it is Segunda in Spain.

“He scored great number of goals for his club. He has shown great potentials and at the moment, if Sadiq gets his chance in the Super Eagles, I think he will be able to express himself more.

“I believe that very soon he will grab the opportunity to show the coach and Nigerians how good and capable he is to wear the national team jersey of Nigeria.
